Do you want to stay where you are? It’s your choice! It takes action to change, to make things different in your life. If you don’t do something to accelerate who you are, you’ll never go anywhere. If you just sit around and wait for God to do something for you, nothing will ever be any different.

From every direction imaginable, the world is teaching this modern generation to stay mediocre in life. People are being told that they are victims; that they are the way they are because of someone else; that they should be paid a wage just because they show up for work. The quality of their work doesn’t matter. Their personal integrity doesn’t matter!

But God has planned something better for you. He did not call you to be mediocre, and He didn’t call you to loose at everything. According to 2 Corinthians 2:14, He has chosen a life for you in which you don’t have to be defeated for even one moment; “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ Jesus….”

However, you first have to become willing to change. When you’re finally willing to wrestle your flesh to the spiritual floor of your life and make yourself follow the principles ofexcellence, these scriptural principles will change not only your experience in the workplace, they will transform your entire life.

  • You will know the difference between mediocrity and excellence
  • You will be able to distinct between God’s goals and the flesh’s goals
  • You will be able to prepare your way forward to achieve God’s goals
  • You will be able to point your life in the direction of your desired destination
  • You will rise to another level
  • You will pursue God above all

God gives us His precious promises so we can escape the corruption of the world and the pressures that are placed on us every day. You need to use diligence to achieve excellence.

It does not help to sit around and think about what you believe. You need to stay focused and be honest with yourself! Always remember you are never rewarded for your intentions but rather for the completion of actions that push you towards excellent.

God designed life to be a continual ascension, to better ourselves. His is the very reason that today’s excellence is tomorrow’s mediocrity. No matter what level you are at today, tomorrow you should be challenged by that level and ready to move up higher. You have been created for movement and for change!

This means you should not let a day go by without looking for ways to become a better entrepreneur, employer or employee.

How can we rise to the next level?

  • Always pursue God first
  • Be willing to make sacrifices
  • Make necessary changes to ensure success
  • Invest in your God given goals
  • Become what God wants you to be
  • Continually point in the right direction of your desired destination
  • Never loose focus

Jesus said it like this: “But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” – Matthew 6:33.

The Step-by-step climb to the next level:

The following steps to excellence will encourage you to live in excellence:

  • You need knowledge in order to advance
  • You need self control to keep yourself on track - focused
  • You need patience, steadfastness and consistency
  • You need to have God Powered Confidence
  • You need Godliness – or you may think you know more than everyone else and become ‘cocky’
  • The principles of excellence will bring promotion - rewards
  • You need kindness and love as important qualities
  • Be fruitful for the Kingdom of God

These are the spiritual ingredients to grow to a new level in the workplace

The fruits of spiritual blindness:

  • Taking things into your own hands
  • Loosing spiritual sight
  • Trying to take short cuts
  • Loosing integrity and honesty
  • Short term gratification
  • Taking backward steps – compromising situations
  • Loosing focus of the goals
  • Wasting time and finding excuses
  • Criticising instead of finding solutions
  • Moving off the post – getting distracted
  • Satan will try and distract you from your driven purpose
  • Looking for other things to do before the task at hand is completed

  • Why is it important to rise to the next level?

Why do you want to multiply your life investment?

You need to know more than just the steps to take in order to reach the next level. You also need to learn how to multiply what God has given you to invest in life so you can accelerate your growth in God, which in turn will accelerate your progress in the workplace. God created you to multiply because He is a multiplier. The first commandment God gave to mankind was “Be fruitful and multiply” – Gen. 1:22.

How do you multiply your life investments?

  • Establish life goals – Those that don’t set themselves goals don’t know where they are going, they just exist until tomorrow, thinking, maybe someone will discover how great I am one of these days!
  • Figure out what you are good at – What skills or talents do you possess?
  • Get rid of extra baggage – You see your ‘rocket’ can’t be launched off its pad to the next level in life if you don’t get rid of extra weight that holds you down
  • Stop wasting time – prioritise your daily activities
  • Stop gossiping – set co-workers on the right spiritual path and love them
  • Cut out distractions – habits, relationships, interests or activity that hinders you from putting God first or from becoming productive
  • Don’t loose focus – the only way to multiply your life investments and accelerate your growth is by pursuing excellence in the arena’s of your intended focus

If you are going to multiply what God has invested in you, you cannot hold onto anything that subtracts or divides!

Respect: The prerequisite for an Entrepreneur or promotion:

  • This is one of the greatest returns on an investment in the workplace and in other areas of your life. Respect makes a huge difference in the workplace because it generates access. An employer is almost always willing to listen to an employee who never shows anything but respect when he talks to his boss. So as an Entrepreneur will always have happy, committed staff if respect is practised at all levels.

It isn’t so much what you say but how you say it that works in your advantage to created unity in workplace relationships.

  • Disrespect - divides rather than multiplies any investment a person has made at the workplace because disrespect has no position in a place of authority!

The person who excels at being pure of heart and who always speaks respectful words of grace in the workplace will not remain in the background. God will continue promoting greater responsibility until one day he stands before kings. “He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men” – Proverbs 22:29.

  • The meaning of respect – society has spent the last many years dismantling the meaning of the word ‘respect’. In part, it means giving attention to. Respect also carries the meaning of holding others in high esteem or deeming others as distinguished and worthy. Respect is also a quality that lives on the inside of a person. The truth is all life is lived from the internal rather than from the external. Respect is an inward quality no one can make someone into a respectful person! You cannot earn respect it is given; loyalty is earned.
  • Do not correct upwards – people don’t realise how much they subtract from their position in the workplace when they refuse to respect. An employer may not always be right in the way he carries out his responsibilities but it isn’t the employees’ job to tell him that he is wrong. A person of excellence never corrects upwards. You need to avoid this pitfall of disrespect.

There are two kinds of people in your life – those who always want to make you comfortable, and those who are in your life for encourage change. The first group encourages contentment. To keep you in the mediocrity of your comfort zone! The second group of people are usually the authorities God has placed over you in the various arenas of your life including your employer or shareholders.

  • Do not take your staff or employer for granted – taking your staff or employer for granted will ruin the harvest you are designed to receive from the field in which God has set you. Over-familiarity is often the culprit that causes us to take our authorities for granted and over step our bounds with them. Remember, whatever or whom ever becomes familiar to us becomes hidden to us!

Another principle of respect to abide by in the workplace is never hold an opinion about people God has called to lead you in your life. We must also learn not to see or hear others who voices their negative opinions about authoritative figures.

  • Do not question your authority – one reason respect brings such good returns on your life investment is that it helps keep your relationship with your authorities intact. That’s the goal many people fail to reach.

Time is a great tattletale; time will tell whether or not your employer is right. Remember, his job is not to answer to you! Trust God to make every wrong situation right and to promote you in due time. God does not want to hear anything negative come out of your mouth because He knows you are doing nothing but sowing bad seed into your life.

Remember the story about Ham? What did he do He exposed the nakedness of his God-ordained authority his father, Noah. Because of Ham’s disrespect, God cursed him, while at the same time He blessed Ham’s brothers.

  • Respect you future harvest – respect for your present assignment is proof that you are expecting a future harvest. If we don’t care at all about the future, we can live disrespectfully, because disrespectful people always reap a negative harvest from the bad seeds they have sown. Just say, “whatever you say, you’re right. Just tell me what you’d like me to do. I may need clarification about what you’re asking of me, but I’ll never challenge you”. By maintaining that respectful attitude, I am respecting my future harvest so I can become all I need to become for God. It will multiply your opportunities as you launch into the next level.

  • What quality of seed am I sowing into my future harvest?
  • Are people better off or worse off because of how I treat them?

You need to keep telling yourself that you want to excel in what God has called you to do. You can never perfect this side of Heaven but you can be excellence in your efforts.

These are the rewards you can expect when you excel:

  • Something changes within you all the time
  • God puts you in a bigger pond
  • You reach a new level
  • You receive favour to grow even more
  • You excel in your gifts and callings
  • You keep moving in the direction of your future

  • Are you a finisher or just a starter? – Leaders in every area of life will gravitate to the person who answers their most immediate need! How many times have you heard the saying ‘give it to someone who is busy they always get the job done?

The ‘go-to’ person is the one who will start a task and finish it. So remember always to posture yourself as a ‘go-to’ person by solving every problem that arises in your job as an Entrepreneur. Most people are awesome starters, but very few are good finishers.

In order to multiply what God has invested you must execute at all tasks. Refuse to move from the center of your assignment until you can say “It is finished”.

You cannot fail if you will not quite!

  • Never stop moving forward – you are a living being. You cannot be stationary in life. You are either going forward or backward at any given moment. You are either multiplying your life investment, or you are squandering it through neglect and disuse. You are either taking steps towards God’s best, or you are moving backward towards mediocrity.

Ephesians 6:8 says – “Whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord ….”

  • Where do I want to go in life?
  • What has God called me to do with my life?
  • What is it that I want to achieve in the days and years to come?
  • What am I currently doing towards the fulfilment of my goals?
  • Explain ‘respect’ and give an examples.

So many people never stick with their dreams long enough to see them come to pass.

Everything you do reflects whether you are a doer and not just a hearer of the Word and whether your dream is your life’s passion or not.

What hinders your dream from being a reality?

  • Fear – “the fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe” – Proverbs 29:25. God has provided a place for the believer where he can live above all the distractions, all controls, and all the guilt trips of this life, a place where he is continually shielded by God’s Grace from every attack of fear and intimidation.

As you are transformed by the Word of God, your life in the workplace will begin to demonstrate the good, the acceptable, and the perfect Will of God. The fear that has hindered your dream in the past, whether fear or failure, what other people will think, or fear of the future, will become a thing of the past as you learn to say along with David, “The Lord is on my side, I will not fear. What can a man do to me?”

  • Delight yourself in God – all God should have to do is to tell us what he needs us to do to achieve our dreams and we should cross out everything else in our lives that run contrary to what He has said. Most people you meet in your life do not have a clue about how to move in the direction of their dreams. In fact, many don’t move at all in their walk with God!

God did not create you so He could get something from you. He created you so He could give you something – your dreams is one of those things He wants to give you. Delight yourself in the Lord and quit thinking, Lord when are you going to come through for me and you will realise He has already come through and just been waiting on you so He can make the next move.

  • The most important Truth to learn – without the transformation process that comes through renewing our minds with God’s Word, the circumstances and pressures of life will mould and press us into becoming something God never wanted us to be. So the dream is lost due to a lack of knowledge.
  • God determines your position in Life – when you dwell in the secret place of the Most High, every dream that God has placed in your heart becomes a reality waiting to happen. God alone is the One who determines the vocation He has called you to fulfil.
  • Identify with that which is written – the position that God gives you as an Entrepreneur or in the workplace is better than any the world could every give you. He says “the greater is He who is in you than he that is in the world” – John 4:4. God made us winners. God has called you to win and to live your dream.
  • Develop confident Trust – did you know that being an Entrepreneur comes from God. He says that as you think in your heart, so are you. You need a positive self-image. A positive attitude about your origin and in your ability to identify with who you are in Jesus Christ. Don’t accommodate thoughts in your mind that distract you in achieving your dreams. You have been created to reach your full potential in Christ, but it will only happen as you place your identity in that which God has said for you.
  • Faithfulness – faithfulness is one of the most important qualities in order to build a solid foundation to achieving our dreams in Christ. That is why Proverbs 28:20 says, “A faithful man will abound with blessings, but he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished”. A faithful person has to passionately pursue their dreams to reap the rewards of the ‘finished race’.

  • Take care of your personal appearance – look like someone who is determined to reach their dreams.
  • Become an expert about your task – stay in God’s Word to receive wisdom.
  • Give attention to detail – give immediate and accurate attention to detail and do not conform to assumptions.
  • Do more than is expected of you – go the extra mile. Jesus says “And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two”.
  • Be honest about mistakes – as you learn from you mistakes you will research your facts better to ensure quickened results.
  • Be enthusiastic about your dream – as you will spend many hours in preparation of achieving this dream.
  • Be patient and kind – practise self-control as you will require patience while waiting on your season.
  • Stay in prayer and fasting – Jesus deemed it necessary to pray and fast for certain things in His life.
  • Choose to be an asset to Glorify God – God created us to be successful because He is successful.
  • John the Baptist said it like this “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from Heaven” – John 3:27.
  • Let God’s Will be your focus – not only on making money. Seeking money above the Will of God will first destroy the purity of your focus and then it will destroy you. When you do it God’s way, when you refuse to be controlled or manipulated, but instead faithfully serving with a sincere heart as unto the Lord, you will be rewarded.

  • Love Gods Word – you must learn to love God’s Word on a higher level.
  • God’s Word at work in your life – the law of the Lord is excellence, and it converts the soul to God’s standard of excellence.
  • Be willing to make sacrifices for the Lord – sacrifice is the road travelled by the confident person on a journey to their divine destiny. Jesus spoke about sacrificial commitment in Luke 14:33 “So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be my disciple”. One has to make the decision, we have to establish in our hearts, if being an Entrepreneur, is really what we want. We then have to go to a higher level in God to receive wisdom.
  • Be willing to be obedient – a person of excellence responds to God’s commands with unquestioned obedience. Obedience for an Entrepreneur is not optional, it is a lifestyle.

  • Understanding the power of the seed – a lifestyle of giving is also required in order for you to go to another level of success in your work and in life in general. Your tithing as an Entrepreneur is from your company profit and from your salary independently.
  • Surrender to God’s precious promises – God gave you many precious promises. You surrender to these divine promises when you commit your dream as you journey through your life as an ambassador for Christ Jesus.
  • Reining with God – maintain a level of faith. Do not rein in circumstantial faith but knowing that faith is a person. God is faith!
  • Apply diligence to excellence – God gives us His precious promises so we can escape the corruption of the world and the pressures that are placed on us every day. You need to use all diligence to achieve excellence and see your dream come true!
